We have recently been connecting with some amazing Australian organisations who work to inform and support those facing crisis pregnancy.

One of these who we look forward to working alongside more in the future is Life Network Australia.

Pregnancy Packs

We have been excited to start putting together our Pregnancy Packs.

These will be little bags filled with much information about facing crisis pregnancy and “what to do next” and will be distributed even now before our full program is running when we connect with women in this circumstance.

Of course there will be many fun little gifts and samples of helpful products included… so we loved our first box of products arriving last week from BioOil!

Let us know if you have any suggestions about what to include.

Healthy Babies Aborted

Raising adoption awareness in Australia

In October we are planning for two of our team to attend the Together for Adoption Conference in Texas, USA.

Currently in our nation we have a very negative adoption culture, and our understanding of the plight of the orphan is almost non-existent. We have been able to learn so much from Together for Adoption and are excited at the possibility of helping them come out to run an Australian version of the Together for Adoption conference in 2011. This would be an amazing opportunity for Australians to gain a greater understanding about the global orphan crisis. The other major focus would be to educate Australians about adoption and how they can engage in this issue in the context of our nation. In order to see this happen, we need an initial visit to highlight the areas which we could adapt to the Australian community and whether or not this is a viable option.

Visiting the Together for Adoption conference will also provide an incredible opportunity to network with other organisations who are working in the area of orphan care and adoption ministries.

This is where we need your help… we need to cover two airfares and accommodation whilst in Texas. We are covering some of this personally, but there is approx $5,000(AUS$) to be raised.

This would be an incredible way for us to change the mindset of Australians in regards to at-risk children, both locally and internationally.

Late-term abortion increases in Victoria

One of the assurances from those lobbying for abortion legislation change in late 2008 was that there would be no increase in the number of late term abortions.

Sadlyand predictably, this isn’t so. Only one year later the statistics already show the increase as reported recently on Channel 7 News:

Late last year, after coming up with very little resource on adoption within Australia, we found ourselves up late in the nights webstreaming the Together for Adoption Conference, held each year in Texas, USA.

We wholeheartedly believe in all they are doing to see children loved and placed in families all over the world. we have and will continue to learn much from them.

We recently had the priviledge to write a blog post for them about what we are praying for in Australia, in regards to adoption and at-risk children.

Where we’ve been…

We apologise for the length of time between posts…

We’d hoped to have our new website completed by now, but it’s not quite there yet…

We have been keeping ourselves busy in the meantime with new members, board meetings, volunteers and plenty of new and exciting opportunities.

On the 18th March we held our very first information session, where many came to learn more about what we are doing and where we are headed in the future.

This was a fantastic evening where we were able to connect with some of our supporters and people whom we hadn’t yet met in person. We are extremely grateful to those who ventured out and have enjoyed the process of getting to know you each and to discuss how you might be involved in The Babes Project.

The next information session is scheduled for the morning of Saturday 19th June, so if your interested in more information or want to join the team… keep this date free!
